Citi Premier Card Review

Our Detailed Review of This Card

Apply for This Card

The Citi Premier Card (a NextAdvisor advertiser) offers the opportunity to earn a hefty intro bonus and accrue unlimited reward points for purchases made with the card, all while charging no foreign transaction fees and no annual fee for the first 12 months (after that, it's $95 per year).

To start, you'll receive 50,000 bonus points after you spend $4,000 in purchases within the first 3 months of account opening. That bonus is worth $500 in gift cards and $625 in airfare via the ThankYou® Travel Center — that's because your points are worth 25% more when you book travel through the ThankYou® Travel Center!

You'll also earn an ongoing 3 points on travel. That's a hefty reward rate and it includes gas purchases, which is an unusual rewards category for a travel credit card. In addition to that, you'll earn 2 points on dining out and entertainment, as well as 1 point on all other purchases. Your earned points can be redeemed for cash, travel, gift cards, at and more.

Another fantastic feature of the Citi Premier Card is its ability to transfer points at equal value to participating airline and hotel travel rewards programs free of charge (1,000 points minimum). This feature allows you to take advantage of other programs' high point value, a great tool for the savvy traveler. Participating airlines include TrueBlue, Virgin Atlantic Flying Club and Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer.

Finally, you'll pay no foreign transaction fees when you travel outside the U.S. — which can save you a bunch of money (many cards charge 3% to 5% foreign transaction fees) — and you'll have access to Citi's 24/7 concierge service. The concierge service can assist you with travel, shopping, dining, entertainment and other needs.
