The Hilton Honors American Express Business Card is a point-making machine. First, you can earn an intro bonus of up to 100,000 points! Here’s how to earn it: Spend $3,000 on purchases in the first 3 months of membership to earn 75,000 bonus points, then spend another $1,000 on purchases in the first 6 months to get an additional 25,000 bonus points. On top of that, you can earn one free weekend night when you spend $15,000 on purchases in a calendar year, then you’ll get one more free weekend night after spending $45,000 in the same calendar year — spending $60,000 in a year is pretty easy for any business to do. A membership to The Hilton Honors American Express Business Card also grants you complimentary Hilton Honors Gold Status, giving you more perks, access to space-available upgrades and more.

When it comes to ongoing rewards, cardholders earn 12X points at hotels and resorts in the Hilton portfolio and 6X points on select business and travel purchases. Select business purchases include wireless telephone services purchased directly from U.S. service providers, U.S. purchases for shipping and purchases made at U.S. gas stations, while select travel purchases include flights booked directly with airlines or through American Express Travel, cars rentals booked directly through select car rental companies and purchases at U.S. restaurants. The Hilton Honors American Express Business Card also earns 3X on all other purchases.

Those who travel overseas for work will not only enjoy paying no foreign transaction fees, but they will also appreciate the 10 free visits they can take to over 1,000 Priority Pass airport lounges each year. The card does have a $95 annual fee, but if you use the card for all of your hotel, business and travel purchases, the rewards you earn will easily offset the fee (and then some).

Are there any downsides?

While The Hilton Honors American Express Business Card is a great choice for businesses who are loyal to the Hilton portfolio, it doesn’t offer much redemption flexibility. If you’d like to redeem your miles for a stay at any hotel or a flight with any airline, the Capital One Spark Miles for Business card is for you. This card offers 50,000 bonus miles to cardholders who spend $4,500 on purchases in the first 3 months from account opening and earns an easy 2X miles per $1 spent on all purchases. It also has no foreign transaction fees, a $0 intro annual fee for the first year (after that, it’s $95) and, like The Hilton Honors American Express Business Card, it’s available to those with good to excellent credit (usually considered a credit score of 700 or higher).

Should I apply for The Hilton Honors American Express Business Card?

Business owners who travel often and stay at Hilton-branded hotels will likely be pleased with The Hilton Honors American Express Business Card. Although the card’s rewards and perks are strong, it’s not a good option for those who want to redeem their rewards for hotel stays outside the Hilton portfolio or flights.
