On top of that, you’ll get $150 cash back when you spend $500 on purchases within the first 3 months, something that’s pretty easy for foodies to do. You also won’t pay foreign transaction fees, making this a fantastic credit card to use when dining all around the world.

Redeem your rewards for: Your cash back rewards don’t expire for the life of your account, and you can redeem them at any time for any amount in the form of a check, a statement credit or a gift card. Capital One even lets you set up automatic redemption so you can, for example, pay yourself back for all those morning lattes.

Other noteworthy features: Not only does this card charge no annual fee, but you’ll enjoy a 15-month 0% intro APR on both purchases and balance transfers (with a 3% balance transfer fee) to start. Other perks to pay attention to include a complimentary concierge service — sure to be helpful in finding the best restaurants wherever you are — as well as extended warranty protection, price protection on items you purchase with the card and travel protection.

Drawbacks to consider: It’s important to note that this credit card requires good to excellent credit for approval, which is typically considered to be credit scores in the 700 or higher range.

Redeem your rewards for: Your options for redeeming your cash back are varied and flexible — ranging from using your cash back directly on to redeeming it for gift cards or to make charitable donations.

Other noteworthy features: First, if you’re someone with average credit (typically considered to be credit scores of 670 or higher), then you’ll appreciate that this card is available to people with average to excellent credit, making it a standout among the other cards we’re highlighting in this post. Discover it chrome cardholders get 14 months of 0% intro APR on both purchases and balance transfers (with a 3% balance transfer fee), never pay any annual or foreign transaction fees and can enjoy a suite of fantastic perks like identity theft protection and exclusive shopping discounts.

Drawbacks to consider: Head’s up, foodies: If you like to frequent smaller independent eateries, you might also find that not all of them are equipped to accept Discover, which is something to think about carefully when considering a dining rewards credit card.

U.S. Bank Cash+ Visa Signature Card

You’ll earn 5% cash back in 2 categories of your choosing (e.g., restaurants, airlines, department stores and more) on your first $2,000 in eligible net purchases each quarter (then it’s 1% back) as well as earn 2% cash back on 1 everyday category such as gas or groceries. Everything else will earn a standard 1% cash back, and there is no limit to how much cash back you can earn overall. In addition, you can get a $150 new card member bonus by spending $500 on purchases in your first 90 days.

Redeem your rewards for: You can redeem your rewards online, over the phone or in person at any U.S. Bank branch for cash, a deposit into a bank account or a statement credit without any minimum redemption necessary.

Other noteworthy features: There is no annual fee with this card, and you’ll enjoy a 12-month 0% intro APR on balance transfers performed within the first 60 days of opening your account (with a $5 or 3% balance transfer fee, whichever is greater).

Drawbacks to consider: In order to take advantage of the extra cash back, you must be sure to choose your categories every quarter — if you don’t, your card will default to 1% cash back on everything during that time period. If you’re someone who is apt to forget or doesn’t want the hassle of having to remember to choose new categories every few months, this might not be a great card to get. That said, U.S. Bank does offer free email/text message alerts to help remind you to enroll. This card is also one that requires excellent credit for approval, so if your credit isn’t up to snuff, consider another selection from our list. Finally, unlike the other cards in this post, there is no 0% intro APR on purchases associated with this one.
