Do You Pre-Qualify for a Special Offer from American Express? We Can Help You Find If you’ve been eyeing an American Express credit card for some time, or if you are in the market for a new credit card, now may be the time to act. That’s because we’ve teamed up with American Express (a NextAdvisor advertiser) to create NextAdvisor’s Pre-Qualification Tool. This tool will tell you if you pre-qualify for a special offer from American Express, making some of the already impressive credit card offers a lot more appealing.

What are the benefits of using NextAdvisor’s Pre-Qualification Tool?

The first and obvious benefit is that you’ll get a special offer catered to your creditworthiness, as our pre-qualification tool pulls a¬†soft inquiry of your credit, which means it won’t show up on your credit reports or impact your credit scores. Here’s an example: the Blue Cash Preferred Card from American Express, our top-rated cash back credit card, normally offers a $200 intro bonus when cardholders spend $1,000 on purchases within the first 3 months, but one of the special offers available through our pre-qualification tool allows you to get a $250 intro bonus — that’s $50 more! — after you spend the same amount, $1,000, on purchases in the first 3 months. Another special offer for this card boosts the length of the 0% intro APR on purchases and balance transfers to 15 months — that’s up from its usual 12 months! It should be noted that these are just two of the many special offers you may get through our pre-qualification tool.

The second benefit of using our tool is that you’ll be able to see your exact APR before you even apply for a credit card. While our credit card reviews show you the general range of an APR, you won’t know the exact APR until you apply (and get approved) for the card. Because our tool pulls a soft inquiry, you’ll be able to see your exact APR if you qualify for any special offers, which is pretty nice.

Which credit cards have special offers through NextAdvisor?

We review numerous American Express credit cards, but only a handful of them offer special offers through our pre-qualification tool. These cards include:

It should be noted that you will likely not pre-qualify for special offer from all of these cards. For example, someone from our team pre-qualifies for special offers for 4 of the cards noted above. Similarly, not everyone will qualify for an offer. For example, if you’re a current American Express credit cardholder, like I am, you will not receive any special offers. Even if you use our pre-qualification tool and don’t see any special offers, it won’t impact your credit reports and scores because the tool pulls a soft inquiry of your credit, as we noted above.

How do I use NextAdvisor’s Pre-Qualifying Tool?

It’s easy! Visit our pre-qualifying tool and fill out the encrypted form — you need to enter your name, street address, city, state, zip and the last 4 digits of your social security number — then scroll through the terms and click “Submit & View Offers.” You will immediately find out if you pre-qualify for a special offer, and if you do, all you have to do is click “Apply Now” next to the special offer you wish to take advantage of. We should mention that clicking “Apply Now” will bring you to American Express’ website, where you can fill out the credit card application online.
