Best Citi Credit Cards

Best for balance transfers:

Citi Simplicity® CardThe Citi Simplicity Card – No Late Fees Ever is a great option for those looking to transfer a balance from one or more high-interest credit cards to one with a long 0% intro APR period. It features 21-months of 0% intro APR on balance transfers made in the first 4 months, as well as no annual fee. Note that this card does carry a balance transfer fee of either 5% or $5, whichever is greater, which is rather steep. On top of that, you’ll get a 12-month 0% intro APR on purchases. Beyond the savings on interest, you’ll get benefits like the ability to change your payment due date to one that fits your needs and free monthly copies of your Equifax credit scores.

Best for earning cash back or points:

Citi® Double Cash CardThe Citi Double Cash Card takes a creative approach to earning cash back: you’ll get 1% cash back on all purchases when you make them, and be rewarded with an additional 1% when you pay those purchases off, for an effective 2% cash back on every purchase. Whether you pay your purchases in full or over time, you’ll get the additional cash back whenever you do. This card also makes a solid choice for a balance transfer, as it offers 18 months of 0% intro APR on transferred balances (with a 3% or $5 minimum balance transfer fee). It should be noted that you do not earn cash back for paying your transferred balance — the cash back is only earned on purchases. When it’s time to redeem your rewards, you can do so in increments of $25 for a statement credit, check or gift card. Rounding out this card are no late fees on your first missed payment and no annual fee.

Attention, Costco shoppers: the Costco Anywhere Visa Card by Citi will earn you 4% cash back at gas stations — including Costco gas — (on up to $7,000/year, then it’s 1%), 3% cash back at restaurants and on eligible travel, 2% cash back at Costco and 1% cash back on everything else. So long as you have a paid Costco membership, you won’t be charged an annual fee with this card, and the card has no foreign transaction fees for purchases made overseas. It’s important to note that the cash back you earn with this card will be paid to you once a year as a coupon with your February billing statement, usable for cash or Costco merchandise. If you’re someone who wants to be able to redeem your cash back more often, this is not the card for you.

Best for business owners:

The Costco Anywhere Visa Business Card offers a generous 4% cash back on up to $7,000 on purchases at gas stations per year (including Costco), 3% cash back at restaurants and on eligible travel, 2% cash back at Costco and 1% on everything else. You’ll get your cash back each year in the form of a coupon with your February billing statement, which can be redeemed for cash or Costco merchandise. This is a great bonus for businesses that shop at Costco frequently, but if you’d prefer to earn rewards you can redeem with more flexibility and frequency, this probably isn’t a good fit for your business. The card has no annual fee, but you must have a Costco membership to be a cardholder. This card also has no annual fee as long as you have a valid Costco membership.
