Web Hosting Services
Frequently Asked Questions about Web Hosting Services.

What is an uptime guarantee?

Web hosts generally make guarantees about the amount of time your site will be up, i.e. visible to users. If the site is unreachable for a longer time than their guarantee specifies, you will be compensated for that period of time (usually by crediting you with the time lost, based on your hosting fees). Most have a 99.9% guarantee, some go for 100%. We have not chosen to list this in our comparison chart because the difference is pretty insignificant, and the amount of compensation fairly minimal. Also, there are a handful of exceptions that void these guarantees.
