Bottom Line:
Cheap pricing for multiple lines, low activation costs, and no cancelation fees
Full Review:

Phone Power isn't as well known as some other VoIP companies. While they have a somewhat complex pricing scheme, as we outline below, their prices are extremely good for 2 or more lines, though some special features will cost you extra.

Phone Power has plans aimed at very small businesses and larger businesses. We're focusing on the larger business plan, since the other lacks an auto-attendant and true multiple lines. As with most VoIP providers you pay per extension, with multiple extensions sharing a single line. All Phone Power business plans come with two lines. Phone Power's per-extension price goes down as the number of extensions you want increases. For instance, 10 extensions will cost you just $18.75 per user, per month, while with 15 extensions the cost goes down to $17.62 per user, per month. Go all the way up to 50 extensions and the cost is a very low $5.29 per line, per month. It's good pricing, but prospective customers should note there's a $10.00 activation fee per extension with an annual contract, or $25.00 without an annual commitment. While scalable pricing is common with all VoIP providers, Phone Power's feels the most variable.

The plans for big business come with many standard VoIP features including the auto-attendant, call forwarding, and conference calling, Internet faxing, number portability and free incoming calls, with 5,000 outbound minutes. A toll-free number will cost $5.00 per month (with calls being charged at 0.04¢ per minute).

Since VoIP uses the Internet to send calls, you will either need to purchase VoIP phones, or use a VoIP adapter. Phone Power actually includes the latter for free. If you decide to go with VoIP phones, you can purchase these from a number of different retailers, and probably get a better price than what's offered from most VoIP service providers. Additionally, Phone Power offers free softphone software, so you can access your voicemail, as well as make and receive calls on your computer. There's also support for many smart phones as well, including Apple's iPhone.

Support is provided by US-based customer support agents. Monthly accounts may be canceled at any time without penalty. Those who've selected an annual plan will pay $99.00 for early cancelation, though a 30-day grace period will let you avoid that fee if you find the service isn't working out for you. Note that failure to return the free phone adapters will result in an additional $99.90 charge.

While the charge for the toll-free number and setup costs are a consideration, Phone Power is definitely a low-cost leader, particularly if you have a large number of employees and are comfortable with an annual commitment. The free phone adapters are a nice touch too, particularly for those who are switching over from regular telephones and are nervous about the initial equipment outlay.
