HSBC Advance Review: Savings Accounts

Rating:
Bottom Line:
Great choice, particularly for those who want ATM access
Full Review:
HSBC Advance's current APY is 0.90% for all customers, regardless of balance, and interest is compounded daily. HSBC Advance does not charge monthly fees. The minimum opening balance is $1, and there is no minimum balance requirement. Customer service representatives are available by phone 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

HSBC Advance savings accounts are managed online, at HSBCadvanceUSA.com, where your information is password protected and encrypted with the latest security technology. From the online account interface, you'll be able to link an unlimited number of external accounts to your HSBC Advance savings account, which will allow you to transfer funds instantly or set up automatic transfers. In addition to the standard options of online transfers, wire transfers, and checks, you'll have the ability to withdraw funds from any ATM, not just HSBC ATMs. If you do wish to take advantage of this option, you'll need to request an ATM card on your account application, or call HSBC Advance to request a card at a later date. If you use a third party ATM to access your HSBC Advance savings account and are charged a fee, HSBC will reimburse up to three of these fees per month. As with any savings account, you'll only be permitted to make up to six withdrawals per month. But if you are likely to take advantage of the unique option to withdraw cash from any ATM, an HSBC Advance online savings account is probably a good option.
