Bottom Line:
Strong career-oriented curriculum, best teachers and class sizes
Full Review:
South University has more than 100 years of history and five offline campuses in addition to its online programs, which offer a very career-focused curriculum. Classes are small (fewer than 15 students), allowing for more student-teacher and student-student interaction than many other schools we review.

Best for: Faculty interaction

Degrees: Associate's; bachelor's; master's, MBA; PhD

Programs: Business, criminal justice, healthcare, IT, legal and paralegal, nursing, psychology Undergrad Cost: $363-372 per credit

Graduate Cost: $375-675 per credit

Post-Graduation Employment:
Career Services online offers several career assessment tools, including a resume builder. Also, before graduation, a career assistant will contact you and set you up with assistance with cover letters, job searching, and interviewing. The career assistant can even get you a critique of your resume by a professional in your industry, a unique feature. Career support continues after graduation.

Financial Aid:
South University offers pretty standard financial aid options: a 10% military discount, student finance counselors, and employer partnerships with companies such as AOL, HP, and Verizon.

Resources:
We like South's personal Graduation Team for each student, three people working together to help ensure your success at school and beyond. The team consists of an admissions representative, a student finance counselor, and an academic counselor. South also provides a Campus Commons, a newsletter called "Connections," and social media opportunities to help you expand on what you've learned in your classes.

Faculty:
Small class sizes are a huge bonus with South. That means you'll get lots of interaction with your instructors and with fellow students. The quality instructors have in-depth profiles online, showing that they have excellent educations and a great deal of experience, both in teaching and the industry.

Value:
The prices aren't bad for what you get, but despite great teachers, the entire experience isn't the best. Class selections aren't as diverse as at other universities. Focused on career rather than higher learning, it's a good choice if your main goals are in the professional world.
