Identity Guard Good Start is a stripped down version of ID Guard's all-encompassing Total Protection program but still packs enough features to be a decent identity theft detection solution. What sets it apart is its tiny price of just $4.99 per month. Good Start doesn't do things like stop some of your junk mail or order your free credit reports for you like LifeLock, but it does give you something extremely valuable that they don't: credit monitoring of your Equifax credit file. Plus, it comes with Identity Guard's excellent customer service. Compared to its big brother Identity Guard Total Protection, Good Start has fewer features, including monitoring only one of the three bureaus (we recommend monitoring all three), no credit scores or reports and no additional fraud detection. So while we still recommend Total Protection for those most serious about protecting themselves from identity theft, Good Start is a viable option for those looking for a lower priced alternative that performs credit monitoring services at a very reasonable price. If price is a major concern, then Good Start lives up to its name, and is a good start for protecting yourself. |
