If you want simple, yet chic, cotton t-shirts, we highly recommend a $29.99 monthly subscription to Stylemint. This 5 star fashion club makes sure that you have a 5 star experience.
Getting Started Like all of the fashion clubs, you must complete a fun style survey to join. It was shorter than most of the other clubs' surveys, which we appreciated. They didn't ask you to describe your style in vague terminology like "edgy", "bohemian", or "sophisticated" and it was heavily based on photos of looks that, for the most part, were attractive. After completing the style quiz, you just need to enter your name, email, and a password of your choice. Unlike some of the other fashion clubs, your personal showroom is available right away! Showroom The experts at Stylemint present you with your results right away. In general, the resulting selection of shirts is definitely not as personalized as some of the other fashion clubs — it was pretty apparent that the site just styles the looks in ways to fit your personal taste. However, to give them more credit, everyone can style any t-shirt in a way that goes with their individual fashion preferences. Either way, your "personal" results are displayed in the "top pick" section. All the t-shirts on the site are priced at $29.99. You can also click "show me more styles" but for some of our editors it just showed the same shirts, styled in different ways. If you are not happy with your top picks, the page also shows you collections from previous months. Here, there are about a dozen shirts to choose from. Many of the shirts have a variety of color options. It's helpful that the shirts are shown in respect to an entire outfit, making it easier to decipher what the shirt would look like in person. The site itself is very user friendly and each product has a video to go along with it. In these videos, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen talk about each of the shirts in detail, the styling process and tips on how you can style the shirts yourself. The twins have been successful in their previous fashion lines and in their status as fashion icons themselves, making the videos even more enjoyable and reliable. After choosing a specific t-shirt in the size and color of your choice, you are then required to enter your credit card information. The shipping is free and an order confirmation email that includes photos of your products is sent to you right away. On Your Doorstep We were very pleased when our shirts came only 1 week later. The brown paper and leather ribbon packaging was chic and simple, just like the shirts that came inside. The shirts were neatly folded and felt very soft. We could tell right away that this was high quality design. Stylemint tees are made with Pima Cotton and Rayon Modal, and after giving the shirts a wash with cool water and low dry as directed, there was no excessive shrinking. Note that all natural fibers, cotton included, shrink to a certain degree. We were relieved that our tees held up in the wash. All of the tees matched their online descriptions and fit true to size. It is also important to note that some of the shirts, especially the light colors, were a bit see-through thanks to the delicate soft nature of the material, but this is an easy fix — just throw a tank underneath and you're good to go. The transparency of the shirt really depends on the design. For example, the 'Broadway' t-shirt below, did not have this problem, even if it was a light color. However, we did have to wear tanks under the light colored 'Prince' shirts. Exchanges and Customer Support When one of our reviewers decided that she wanted a different shirt, all she had to do in order to process her exchange was contact customer support and request a pre-printed return label. This was easy because a live chat representative from the site responded right away and emailed the label per request. After waiting a week and a half, she called customer service just to make sure they received the package. A friendly consultant answered right away and said that Stylemint had received the package and is crediting the account. With ease, our reviewer ordered two more shirts. Every time we contacted customer service, someone replied swiftly. Unlike their sister site, Jewelmint, we give Stylemint's support 5 stars! Skip the Month You will never be sent something that you did not manually select. And if one month you decide that you do not want to buy anything, just select the "skip the month" button in the first 5 days of that month. This way, your credit card will not be charged. On the other hand, if you forget to select this option, your account will be charged and you will receive one Stylemint credit. You can use this credit later on for any item that you want. Conclusion Though we were not amply impressed with Stylemint's sister company, Jewelmint, Stylemint really surpassed our expectations with their high quality products and great customer service. For its quality and design, the shirts are a great value at $29.99. The entire shopping experience feels first class even if the showrooms' selections aren't super personalized, especially with Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen's fabulous styling tips throughout. |
