Bottom Line:
Attractive site, survey, and product packaging is great; however, product quality and customer support can be a hit or miss.
Full Review:
Kate Bosworth's Jewelmint is unique among the other fashion clubs we review because it focuses solely on — you guessed it — jewelry! If you can't walk past a display window full of rings, necklaces, and earrings without taking a step inside, then this monthly fashion club may be a perfect match for you. At only $29.99 a month you are able to pick a jewelry item to pamper yourself with. Though the style survey and resulting showroom is fun and accurate, the product quality and frustrating customer service are the reasons this fashion club received our 3-star rating.

Getting Started

Like the other fashion clubs, Jewelmint requires you to fill out a style quiz before viewing all of the fashion goodies. The results of this survey are used to select what jewelry items will go in your showroom. The questions in this survey range from celebrity style to what nail polish color you usually wear. The photos in the survey were stylish and we found most of them to be relevant to our fashion sense. A downfall of this survey was the questions where you were asked to choose between designers; for people who do not follow designers it could be difficult to choose one that they relate to. We also disliked the section where we were supposed to choose descriptive words that fit our "fashion personality". This definitely took away from the survey's "fun factor" — something we judge for each of the fashion clubs.

Showroom

The resulting showroom adhered to the results of the survey and our fashion personalities. The problem, however, was the limited number of choices. Jewelmint presents only 7 jewelry items to choose from. Upon clicking the "show me more" button, you can choose more items; however, they do not fit into your particular "fashion personality". Regardless of the survey though, there may be some pieces you might enjoy from that extra selection.

Order and Delivery

Ordering from Jewelmint is easy. Each item is $29.99 (equal to your one monthly credit). The shipping is free and Jewelmint is great at adhering to their shipping time — our editors received their pieces within 3-7 business days.

Jewelmint's packaging deserves 5 stars. The jewelry comes in an elegant green box that looks like it holds something more expensive than $30.

The jewelry itself, however, is another story. All of our editors felt like the jewelry could have gone for much cheaper in another store. A reviewer even said that her "Opera Necklace" looked like it belonged at a chain jewelry store frequented by teen girls at malls. Some of the jewelry appeared to be scratched and one of our editors said that the earrings she received were very heavy, while another pair of earrings would not hang properly.

The "Yves Ring" consisted of 3 separate rings that could be worn all together or separately. The lock and key concept was interesting and the ring itself looked modern, but it was impossible to actually wear all of the 3 rings together on one finger because it restricted the finger's movement. There were also little scratches on it. Though this type of quality isn't favorable, it is comparable to jewelry stores such as Claire's, and at times even more sophisticated.

Skip the Month

Like ShoeDazzle, JustFabulous, and Stylemint, JewelMint is a membership site. It currently does not support one-time purchases; however, you can join, make a purchase, and skip the next month if you do not want to buy anything. To do this, select the "Skip the Month" option within the first 5 days of the month. You will not be charged and never will Jewelmint send you anything you did not manually select.

Customer Support

Even with its somewhat lower quality, Jewelmint's style, easy-to-use website, and fun survey may have pushed it to a 4-star rating. However, it was their customer support that knocked them down. Only 2 of our editors were able to easily cancel their subscriptions through live chat on first attempts. Another one of our editors tried live chat twice and received no answer. The phone calls were even less fruitful. None of us were answered on our first try.

Conclusion

Aside from the poor customer service and at times disappointing quality, the site's presentation itself is fun and the surveys are accurate. If you like the pieces that Jewelmint has to offer, it wouldn't hurt to try it out — just make sure to be extremely persistent with the customer support if you don't like what you get.
