What do email marketing services do?

Email marketing services allow you to efficiently communicate with your readers, clients and/or group members. These services help you create newsletter signup forms, manage your subscriber lists, create well-designed messages and track the effectiveness of your emails.

Why do I need and email marketing service?

With these services, you can single handedly create customized newsletter signup forms, manage large lists of contacts, design and create creative messages and track your progress by looking at open and click rates as well as other reader analytics. Many of these sites even allow you to split your subscriber lists into segments, so you can test different emails against one another to see which is more effective. All of these tools combined can help grow your business and get closer to your readers.

What information do these services track in their analytics?

Email marketing services track the number of opens, clicks, bounces, forwards and unsubscribes from your readers after you send your email. Some services do this better than others, and you can see how we ranked each of the service's analytics tools in our email marketing comparison chart.

How do I get subscribers?

There are a number of ways you can get email subscribers. Email marketing services have tools to create customized email signup forms. So if you have a website and/or social media account, you can insert the signup form you created there. You can also have people send you their email addresses through social media and/or direct mail, and then enter it into your email marketing contacts list manually.

Can I use my own HTML code to create emails

Yes. All of these services have an option where you can simply enter in your own HTML to create an email. Some services even let you edit the design with their customization tools after entering in your HTML code.

How do I make sure that my email doesn't go to spam?

The best way to check for spam is to test your emails by sending them to your own email accounts in different email browsers like Hotmail, Gmail and Yahoo!. In addition to that, a couple of the email marketing services we've reviewed, like GetResponse, have automated spam checkers.

How did NextAdvisor review these email marketing services?

Our team of in-house reviewers signed up for and tested each of these email marketing services. They added contacts, tested the different options for designing and creating emails, sent emails to subscribers with different email browsers and reviewed the way each site displays email reports and tracking. The overall ranking and value is measured by looking at the price and how it corresponds with the email or contact allowance of each service, as well as the quality of the email creation tools and email analytics.

How many emails can I send per month?

Most email marketing plans are based on the number of contacts that you send to. When this is the case, you can send an unlimited number of emails to your subscribers per month. On the other hand, a couple of the services have send-based plans, which means there is a monthly limit to how many emails you can send per month. If you are looking for a particular number of emails to send per month, review the "Email Allowance" in our email marketing comparison chart.
