Full Review:
The Plenti® Credit Card from Amex card (a NextAdvisor advertiser) is an odd hybrid of store rewards program and credit card. Users will earn points on purchases made at participating partner locations like AT&T, Macy's and Exxon, certain supermarkets that have their own rewards programs, and the Plenti Online Marketplace. They'll also earn 5,000 bonus points after spending $250 in the first 3 months.

You'll earn 3 Plenti points at U.S. supermarkets (on up to $6,000 per year in purchases), 2 points at U.S. restaurants and 1 point on other purchases for each eligible dollar spent. Points are redeemed for savings (but not free merchandise) at Exxon, AT&T company-owned stores, Macy's, Mobil and Rite Aid. That's it - you can't use your points at any other stores and you can only use them for "savings" at these 4 stores. Additionally it's not transparent what the point value is, so there is no way to allocate a dollar value in savings to the points you earn.

Given all this, unless you shop frequently at Exxon, Macy's, Mobil and Rite Aid, you'll probably be better off with another rewards card. If you're in the market for a cash back rewards card we recommend the Blue Cash Preferred from American Express.
