Your cash back doesn’t expire, and as an added bonus, if you spend $500 on purchases within 3 months of opening your account, you’ll get a $150 cash back bonus. Card members can also receive 50% back as a statement credit on their monthly Spotify subscription (just make sure to use your card to pay), now through April 2018. The Capital One Quicksilver Cash Rewards Credit Card also features no foreign transaction fees or annual fee, and you’ll get 9 months of 0% intro APR on purchases and balance transfers (though there is a 3% balance transfer fee). Note that you’ll need good credit or better to be approved for this credit card (typically considered to be a credit score of 700 or higher).

If you’re looking for travel rewards …

Earning second place in our annual Travel Rewards Credit Card Analysis with a high hotel and flight point value of $2.00 for every $100 you spend, this card nets you an unlimited 2X miles per $1 spent on every purchase. If you spend at least $3,000 on purchases within your first 3 months, you’ll also earn a hefty 40,000-mile bonus — equivalent to $400 in travel! Redeem your rewards for travel by contacting Capital One Rewards Center or booking your own travel with your card, then redeeming your miles for statement credit, or you can redeem for cash, gift cards, brand-name merchandise, and more. Although this card has a $59 annual fee, it’s waived your first year, and you can also rest assured that there aren’t any foreign transaction fees to worry about if you travel outside the U.S. This card is available to those with good or excellent credit, and it also has a $0 balance transfer fee (although there is no 0% intro APR on balance transfers).

You’ll earn 1.25 miles per $1 spent on all purchases, plus get a one-time bonus of 20,000 miles — worth $200 in travel — if you spend $1,000 on purchases within the first 3 months. In addition to no annual fee, this card charges no foreign transaction fees and offers a 0% intro APR on purchases for 12 months. Although there isn’t a 0% intro APR on balance transfers, if you do need to transfer a balance, there isn’t a balance transfer fee. As with the cards we’ve already mentioned, this one also requires good to excellent credit for approval.

If your credit isn’t so great …

The Capital One QuicksilverOne Cash Rewards Credit Card earns an unlimited 1.5% cash back on all purchases, which you can redeem at any time in any amount of your choosing for a check, gift card or statement credit. Plus, between now and April 2018, when you use your card to pay for your Spotify membership, you’ll get 50% back as a statement credit. There is a $39 annual fee, but that’s a relatively small price to pay for a rewards card geared toward those with average, fair or limited credit, especially as you can gain access to a higher credit limit after making your first 5 monthly payments on time (and good payment behavior is a great credit builder).

Though it looks and acts like a regular credit card, this card’s funds are secured by a deposit you put down from the start — either $49, $99 or $200, determined based on your creditworthiness. There isn’t an annual fee to worry about, and as long as you make timely payments, this card can help you build and improve your credit because it reports to all three of the credit bureaus. Plus, if you make 5 monthly payments on time, you can get access to a higher credit line with no additional deposit needed.

If you’re a student …

You’ll earn 1% cash back on all of your purchases, which can be boosted to 1.25% when you pay on time. Pick your own due date to ensure your monthly payments can be made on time, and gain access to higher credit limits when you make your first 5 monthly payments on time. On top of everything else, there are no annual or foreign transaction fees to worry about with this card.

If you want to buy a car …
