BankAmericard Credit CardAre you sick of paying credit card interest? If so, a balance transfer credit card is likely the best solution for you. With so many balance transfer credit cards on the market, it can be hard to determine which one is right for you. To help you out, we’re breaking down everything you need to know about the BankAmericard Credit Card, our No.1 rated balance transfer credit card. It’s one of the very few cards that combines an introductory $0 balance transfer fee (they are usually 3% of the amount transferred) with a 15-month 0% introductory APR. Keep reading to learn more about why this card holds the top spot, and see if it is the right card for your balance transfer.

What does the BankAmericard Credit Card offer?

If you’re someone who’s carrying a balance on your credit card, the BankAmericard Credit Card may be perfect for you. That’s because this card has a 15-month 0% intro APR on balance transfers completed in the first 60 days of account opening, and the best part is the BankAmericard Credit Card charges a $0 balance transfer fee for transfers completed within the same 60-day period. This is a huge perk that saves you 3% of your transferred amount, which is what the fee is after the 60 days have passed.

More good news: cardholders also get a 15-month 0% intro APR on purchases, so if you opt to use the card for any purchases, you can rest easy knowing that you won’t pay any interest on those purchases for 15 months.

In terms of fees, the BankAmericard Credit Card has no annual fee and no penalty APR, which means paying late won’t automatically raise your interest rate. The card also comes with a $0 liability guarantee to cover fraudulent transactions made by others using your account, and you’ll get access to monthly copies of your FICO TransUnion credit scores for free, so you can be in the know about your credit standing.

What’s more, this card is available to those with excellent/good credit (usually considered a credit score of 700 or better), so those with less-than-spotless credit may still want to apply. Keep in mind that Bank of America will also ask for your employment and income when you apply for the card, so just having a perfect or less-than-perfect credit score isn’t the only factor used to determine whether or not you’re approved.

How much can you actually save with the BankAmericard Credit Card?

The BankAmericard Credit Card offers some significant savings for someone looking to complete a balance transfer, especially since you don’t pay a balance transfer fee for transfers made in the first 60 days of account opening. For example, if you’re paying $650 per month toward a credit card with a $9,000 balance that’s charging 25% in interest, you’ll pay off the balance in 17 months and pay around $1,700 in interest. By transferring that $9,000 balance to the BankAmericard Credit Card and making the same $650 monthly payment, you will save $1,700 in interest and pay off the balance in 14 months! While these numbers may be different than the amount you wish to transfer and pay every month, this example still shows you that transferring a balance to the BankAmericard Credit Card can save you some serious cash.

Things to consider about the BankAmericard Credit Card

One aspect of the BankAmericard Credit Card that you need to be aware of is the terms surrounding the 0% intro APR period. In order to receive the 15-month 0% intro APR on balance transfers and pay no balance transfer fee, you must complete the transfer within the first 60 days of account opening. Although this window seems limited, you should know that it’s one that can easily be achieved, especially since Bank of America allows applicants to initiate the transfer during the application process.

If you have a larger balance you’re looking to transfer, you may want to consider another card with a longer 0% intro APR period to give you a bit more time to pay off the balance. That’s where the Citi Simplicity Card – No Late Fees Ever (a NextAdvisor advertiser) comes in. This card offers a 21-month 0% intro APR on purchases and balance transfers. Although you will pay a balance transfer fee of 3% or $5, whichever is greater, you will pay no interest for over a year and a half. The Citi Simplicity Card – No Late Fees Ever also has no annual fee, no penalty APR and no late fees.

Worried you won’t qualify for the BankAmericard Credit Card? Discover it – 18 Month Balance Transfer Offer may be a better option for you because it’s available to those with average to excellent credit (usually considered a credit score of 670 or higher). This card offers an 18-month 0% intro APR on balance transfers (with a 3% balance transfer fee) and a 6-month 0% intro APR on purchases. It also is the only card in this post that offers cash back rewards, which means it’s a card that you may want to keep in your wallet long after your transferred balance is paid off. Cardholders earn 5% cash back in rotating categories each quarter you activate (up to the quarterly maximum, then it’s 1% back) and 1% back on all other purchases. Since the 5% categories rotate, you can get quite a variety of purchases that earn cash back. For example, from July through September of this year, you’ll earn 5% cash back at restaurants, then from October through December of this year, you’ll earn 5% back at Amazon.com and more. Sweetening the cash back offerings is Discover’s match program, which will match all of the cash back you’ve earned at the end of your first year as a cardholder. This means if you earn $500 cash back in your first year as a cardholder, Discover will match that to give you a total of $1,000 back!
