TuneUp your iTunes!

December 23rd, 2008 - Posted by Caitlin

Since we at NextAdvisor.com love to find useful online services and share them with our readers, we thought you might be interested in a cool new online service called TuneUp. TuneUp goes through your iTunes library looking for tracks that are missing titles, artist names, album names, track numbers, years, genres, or cover art, and attempts to fill in the correct information. TuneUp also replaces common anomalies, such as track names set to "Track 01," artist names set to "Unknown," and misspellings. When you play music though iTunes, TuneUp will bring you additional content that pertains to the song that is playing, such as videos. TuneUp also lets you know when your favorite artists will be performing in your area. You can download a limited version for free, which will clean 500 songs and find 50 album covers, or download the unlimited version, which costs $11.95 for a year or $19.95 for a lifetime subscription. TuneUp is now available for PCs and Macs.

If you do have a substantial music collection, it is a good idea to use an online backup service. Many people who don't have a lot of crucial documents forget about the value of their digital music when considering their online backup needs, but losing your entire music library could be devastating.

Also, while we have already downloaded TuneUp and found it to be an excellent and trustworthy service, remember that you should never download 3rd party applications without a good Internet security program to protect you from malware.
