Posted by Caitlin on November 13th, 2008
The American Dietetic Association met in Chicago late last month for their annual meeting, and while they were there they addressed 10 myths about dieting. Contrary to popular belief…
- Eating at night won't make you fat.
- Avoiding foods with a high glycemic index is not, on its own, a good weight-loss strategy.
- High fructose corn syrup is no worse than sugar.
- Caffeine isn't bad for you.
- Just cutting fat from your diet isn't an effective approach to losing weight.
- Avoiding sodium isn't as easy as avoiding salt and salty foods.
- Drinking more water won't help you lose weight.
- You don't need to eliminate refined grains from your diet.
- Sugar doesn't usually make kids more hyper.
- Athletes don't need an excessive amount of protein.
