LifeLock CEO to answer questions and address criticisms in town hall meeting this Friday

LifeLock CEO Todd Davis will host an online town hall meeting scheduled for Friday June 20 at 10:00 am PST. The meeting will be held in a question and answer format and all attendees will have the opportunity to submit questions in order to receive answers directly from Davis. Anyone may take part in the meeting by registering ahead of time at LifeLockAsks.com.

The town hall meeting appears to be part of a larger strategy by LifeLock to dispel rumors about the company with open, honest dialogue. It has been less than a month since Davis appeared on The Today Show where he addressed criticisms of his company head on during an interview with Matt Lauer, anchor of the popular NBC morning show.

“LifeLock has always been transparent when answering questions,” Davis said. “Now it is time for consumers to get the answers they need and hear the truth.”

While the topics covered in the town hall meeting will largely depend on the questions that come from attendees, we expect that recent lawsuits filed against LifeLock, the effectiveness of the service and Todd Davis’ own experience with identity theft will all be covered.     Lifelock is a total scam, the reason so many states, the latest is Texas are suing because he cannot do what he advertises and they do nothing for you when your ID is stolen other than to tell you who to call, when looking for a ID protection consumers need to do their homework, they need a product that can restore their ID as well as monitor their name 24/7. Lifelock only monitors 1 times per month. I have a great product, Identity Theft Shield, covers my husband and myself for $12.95 a month, monitors our name 24/7 and in the event my ID is stolen, it restores it on my behalf while I am still working. It is a benefit thru my company, payroll deducted, I have access to an investigator and an attorney. I think Todd Davis will end up in jail for fraud just like his first business partner. Food for thought.

    Just to clarify a couple points for our readers:

    1) No states are suing LifeLock. There are several class action lawsuits that are brought by nine LifeLock customers and their attorneys. According to LifeLock, all nine of those plaintiffs are still active LifeLock subscribers and have never requested a refund or expressed dissatisfaction with the LifeLock service before filing suit. We have reviewed each of these lawsuits at length and feel there is likely little merit to them.

    2) Credit report monitoring is a very good tool for detecting identity theft but it does not prevent identity theft in any way. LifeLock sets fraud alerts on their subscriber’s credit reports. While fraud alerts are not perfect, they are often able to prevent potential identity theft as it is attempted. We see merit in both tactics- Identity Guard, another one of the top rated services on our comparison uses credit report monitoring and other advanced tools to detect identity theft.

    3) As I mentioned above, we have reviewed Identity Theft Shield and think there are some great aspects to the product. The downside is that it doesn’t actually take any steps to protect consumers until after their identities have already been compromised. It does offer an excellent recovery program as you state.

    Thank you for the news flash, Themis. It is true that there is no way to prevent all identity theft, but there are certainly ways to mitigate the risk of becoming a victim. I don’t believe that advising consumers to wait until they become victims to take action is a responsible thing to do.
