WellPoint Inc, a Tampa based health insurance provider, accidentally posted the social security numbers and pharmacy or medical records of about 128,000 individuals on their publicly available website according to a statement by the company this week.

While it is unknown exactly when the data breach occurred, a company spokesperson said that the personal information of affected individuals was removed from the website on April 2, 2008.

There are reports that at least 71,000 of the impacted individuals were from the state of Georgia and were members of healthcare programs for the poor.

There have been no report incidents of fraud or identity theft as a result of the breach but WellPoint is providing credit report monitoring services for victims.
