Hackers accessed a server housing the personal information of about 60,000 current and former students and employees of Antioch University in Yellow Springs, OH according to a recent report in Computer World Magazine.
The server was vulnerable to outside parties because of a known security vulnerability that had not been remedied by University technical staff. University officials discovered the break-in and data breach while investigating a virus that had infected the server as a result of the security issue.
The personal data was breached sometime on or before February 13, 2008 and discovered by University technical staff shortly thereafter.
