Our top rated identity theft protection service, LifeLock, announced this a new national campaign this week to bring awareness of the risks of identity theft across America.

LifeLock’s “Strike Back - Defeat Identity Theft Now” campaign will be a mobile petition drive covering over 6,200 miles in two weeks.  The campaign will culminate in the delivery of LifeLock’s petition to Congress on march 6, 2008.

LifeLock’s CEO Todd Davis will lead the mobile campaign and will also be joined on the road by other experts and former identity theft victims.  Said Davis:

It’s crucial that everyone takes this crime seriously. Doing nothing or turning to options that are not preventative can no longer be an option. This campaign is designed to provide consumers with an education about the crime, a list of options for limiting risks, and hopefully, serve as a motivational tool for those looking for a reason to speak up and take action.

LifeLock’s mobile tour will travel throughout the southeastern United States with stops planned at a variety of locations from college campuses, corporate headquarters and senior living facilities to festivals, financial institutions and elementary schools.

Those consumers that won’t be able to attend the live events may sign the petition online by visiting LifeLock’s website.
